The city has always had a reputation as a great historical city, and its strong links with world literature and the arts are readily apparent. It certainly has a lot to offer visitors – not least it’s diverse attractions.

Why wait anymore? There’s no waiting with Global Entry

Unless you’re an international traveler, you may not have realized that wait times are nearing 2.5 to 3 hours at peak times when arriving back in the US and checking in through Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at some major airports.

Click to EnlargeWhat to do?  Sign up for Global Entry.  The online application takes about 15 minutes to fill out, costs $100, and lasts for 5 years once you’re enrolled.  After you receive your preliminary Global Entry approval, just schedule an interview at the closest Global Entry for final approval and kiosk training – it only takes 20 minutes.  And in about a week, you should receive your Global Entry membership card, which actually isn’t necessary to bring with you to the airport since it’s online.

Checked Baggage Assistance…know before you buy

[singlepic id=38 w=320 h=240 float=left]As airlines refine and adjust their baggage revenues streams, travelers often struggle to understand what additional costs they will endure for checked baggage…even if traveling on a Business or First Class Class ticket. I have recently discovered a great website which appears to be very accurate and a terrific resource for comparing baggage costs.

Luggage Limits  is also available as an iPhone/iPad/android app and is a useful resource to utilize for travel. When traveling with your golf clubs it is far better to be fully informed before you approach the check in desk!

Distillery Tour Thanks to the Kintyre Express

springbankDuring the season, several of my groups have enjoyed a trip on the Kintyre Express to play Machrihanish Golf Course.  My last group also enjoyed combining a whisky tour with a day of golf; they travelled to Springbank Distillery which is about 20 minutes from Machrihanish.  With several tours and different experiences offered by the Distillery, the group really enjoyed the Scottish experience.  Highly recommended.

Montalto Estate

[singlepic id=19 w=320 h=240 float=]  Monalto is a privately owned Estate nestled in the picturesque surroundings of the County Down countryside.  With Northern Ireland becoming a much more popular destination for golfers, thanks to the on-course success of Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and, in particular, Rory McIlroy, Royal County Down and Royal Portrush have never seen so many visitors.  PerryGolf are always on the look out for properties to use that meet the quality our clients expect and Montalto Estate is one we’ve recently become aware of and which could work out perfectly for the right group.  It has 10 deluxe bedrooms, so for groups of guys wanting single rooms or indeed a large party of couples, it could work out perfectly as an exclusive use property…which would make your trip to Ireland even more special.
