Choosing Your First PerryGolf Cruise: Where Adventure Meets Strategy

As for helping someone select their first PerryGolf Cruise from our current golf cruise portfolio of 58 voyages to 35+ countries across 4 continents (approximately 25+ departures each year) — I would encourage them to start with classic destinations like the British Isles or Mediterranean…more familiar cultures, iconic courses, easier time zones. Our recently updated website features tools called “Trip Finder” and “Trip Calendar” which allow users to filter our entire portfolio by trip type, destination and travel date. You can sort by length of trip, number of nights, rounds, and price.

Of course it’s important to consider flexibility with travel dates, from time of year to length of trip. For example, our Golf Cruises to New Zealand & Australia or to Japan typically book further in advance than any other destination but the travel journey is obviously more intensive, and the cruise itself at 16 nights is longer than our average at 7 – 12 nights.  If you haven’t tested your sea legs, finding yourself as a first-time cruiser crossing the Tasman Sea may not be the right fit.

Regardless which part of the world you visit, there is a lot to be said for the ability to unpack only once and see so much of a destination, eliminating the need for hotel changes and internal flights.  Some destinations offer more appeal for cruising, such as Ireland or New Zealand, where the seamless nature of exactly that – unpacking just once – presents an opportunity to circumnavigate each country without some of the nuances associated with covering as much ground (pardon the pun) on a land based tour. Certainly trade-offs though.

As for any specific recommendations, consider our 11-12 night, 5 round Irish Links Golf Cruise that includes rounds at Royal Portrush and Old Head, or visiting Continental Europe for one of our Mediterranean or Iberian Peninsula Golf Cruises, or even perhaps our British Isles Golf Cruise that not only includes rounds at World Top 100 courses but also offers weekend attendance to golf’s oldest major championship — The Open, sometimes referred to as The British Open or The Open Championship

An important takeaway though is that while PerryGolf consistently integrates the same golf package concept into every voyage around the world, each itinerary we offer is a distinct experience – it’s not just another golf trip. We were very closely years in advance with the team at Azamara Cruises in designing itineraries that encompass not only the very best opportunities for extended destination immersion, but also many of the world’s very best golf courses. I hear it all the time that there’s a great level of comfort knowing PerryGolf staff will be onboard and ashore to ensure the delivery of a seamless golf cruise experience, whether it’s their first or fifteenth voyage. We do all the heavy lifting – our guests’ responsibility is simply to show up and enjoy the camaraderie of traveling companions and new friends.

Our portfolio of Custom Tours, Small Group Tours, and Golf Cruises offers adventures to 40+ countries across 6 continents. Whether by land or sea, every PerryGolf journey reflects our unwavering commitment to thoughtful design, trusted expertise and exceptional service – setting the standard for golf travel worldwide since 1984.
